I really understand where you're coming from. I have to say, that after living abroad for the last 3 years I can honestly say that the U.S. system isn't the worst by far. Sure is not the worst!!!
It's indivuiduals (judges) in action daily that form the overall impression and there are some very good judges sitting on benches within the US.
Compare that to one I sat in front of within the last three months. I was stunned by the opening comments by this guy which were - "I don't want anything for this and I want that to be known at the outset. When your project is complete, it would be nice to be invited for afternoon tea."
This judge was openly saying he did not want to be bribed??? Gimme a break!!
PS.. It was a planning application in front of him. But gotta admire him for his candour!!
