People came to this country for freedom but still want to associate with people of the same values and homeland.
Personaly, I would want a kid of mine to be with someone who is of european heritage because i am proud of where I come from and I have no problem with still wanting my heritage to stay in that same german/italian/russian line.

If your German, Italian, and Russian ancestors felt as you do, you wouldn't exist today.
But I see what you're saying, and I totally agree, people want to associate with those who share similar values and race sometimes too. I see no problem with either. It's a choice.
