Getting a merchant account for adult products or mainstream is very easy. Adult membership site merchant account setups are harder but they are certianly possible. I do not recommend it for startups but once you hit a decent monthly volume, I would highly recommend it.

We just setup a new product account through Netbilling and it only took one day to get approved. We also have domestic and offshore merchant accounts for our paysites and we use Netbilling to handle all of our processing, scrubbing, and they do our call center customer service and phone orders too. Some guys with merchant accounts like to handle their own customer service but we leave it to Netbilling and they do a great job for us and have for several years now. We used to use 3rd party processing and have it for backup as cascading now as we do very well using our own merchant accounts, as many programs do.
