That about sums it up. The news, and media all know little about history. Not just U.S. history, but history in general.
Much like Fox News calling the war on terror WWIII and hoping they would get that to stick. Never did. Never will. Anyone who knows their history will never agree. One country's agenda on 'terror' is not an entire world at war. Sorry Fox News, doesn't work that way just because O'Reilly said it, and the minions parrot it.
N.O.'s was a tragic to be sure. But we have had a number of things that rank up there. Everything is about sensationalism now. Since few people know their history, everything is about 'the worst ever' blah blah. 9-11, the hurricane, and so forth. Pick just about any subject, and they will claim whatever is going on now is the most, worst, (insert the bad, oohh the boogie man's coming, chicken little, sky's falling, terrorism, they hate us for our freedom, buzz word, scandal-gate, hot button phrase of the day).
