ROFL...and so am I
KB, you ask a valid question though...
As far as Stern...There is huge value in PIA getting as much press as possible. The goals of PIA fall along two lines:
1) Education and Research : very briefly we will Providing:
a) both depth and brief articles / research tailored to help parents tackle todays tough parenting challenges.
b) Important articles and resources which address the unique nature of being a parent involved in the Adult Industry
c) Academic Research: every argument made against our industry is follwed by a slew of research and so called "fact". While these research articles and "facts" are biased and misinterpated they do have us at a disadvantage. There really is very little signifacant research to support our positions. Especially as parents. Therefore PIA is building relationships with some prestigeous academic institutions to study issues important to our industry and especially the parents working in it.
2) Litigation and Lobby:
a) Proactive Litigation: Nothing challenged, nothing changed. PIA will be working with and through our attorneys and other organizations to change how CPS cases are handled and the consequenses of making false allegations.
b) Legal Defense Fund: One of primary goals of PIA is to be able to provide our members who cannot afford it, the financial resources for their Legal Defense. I'm fortunate...I can afford good legal counsil..may can't. We have a dear friend who many here know..a single mom raising her family through the money she makes with her TGP. She makes ends meet but not a lot more. She also has an ex who could cause problems. If that ever should happen we want to be able to help.
c) Attorney Directory: In the event you do need legal council, our staff has personally spoken to each and every one of the first amendment and family law firms and attorneys which will be listed in our directory. Each of these firms has been reviewed by Martindale (
www.martindale.com) and have been positively reviewed by their peers. They all understand our industry and its unique challenges. They are willing and capable to help.
As far as the industry in general? Maybe I just don't understand the question. Our sincere desire is to ensure that our industry..one we love...is given the same respect as any legal, legitimate industry. hope that clarifies?
So publicity is essential...one lesson we have learned from the gay and lesbian community is that by being vocal...having the research to back your statements..and consistently making people face a simple fact.."we are good people" and in our case "we are good parents"...you can change public opinion, change the way the law handles you as a class of people and provide power through numbers...
Lastly, I asked AVN to partner with us after discussions with Tony...a concerned parent. We felt AVN was a perfect partner for us because they have the ability to reach virtually every aspect of the industry. They have a vision to bridge the gaps between the the adult industries as a whole. So do we. They also have people at the top who do have families and wanted to be involved. We have had numerous calls from video producers, gentlemans club owners, novelty store owners, dancers, models, sponsors and webmasters...the exposure and support they have provided have touched every facet of the adult industry as a whole....so even before the site/organization oficially goes live on Oct 31 we have been able to help people and if nothing else they are relieved to find out..they are not alone.
Good questions KB! Hope that helps
