Your situation is unique. Keep in mind my comments were directed at several moronic quotes in this thread regarding shooting people that come to there door. We don't need to debate I can now understand what you are saying for your situation.
Of course I think you would still be better suited not to answer the door at all in that case. No one knows what might be on the other end.
