There's a couple:
Octaver (used to either create a second guitar but up to a few octaves down, or to make the actual guitar sound octaves lower w/o having to tune down the strings)
Harmonizer (dual guitars effect sounds, prolly what you were referring to)
Pitch Shifter (name says it all)

Some multi-effects processors allow you to mix these effects as well.

Anybody heard of Marty Friedman and Jason Becker (played together in Cacophony)?
