How did I *know* Labret would see this as an opportunity to ignore facts and attack me personally...
The fact mrthumbs knew my first name is not the issue, because I know nothing harmful can be acheived with it. The issue arrose when I repeatedly asked him where this information came from he refused to tell me. His words were:
"our policy does not allow to information sources. That would
spoil the concept."
As well as:
"And for my knowlegde: Being a porncartel member opens doors i guess.
That's all."
This was intended to appear as if he had a continuing source of information on me.

So now I know that 16 months ago, when I first started in this office, my computer was listed in our interoffice network after my legal first name. No one has EVER either used my name when it was not given directly, or alerted me to a network stamp that appeared at the top of the full headers of my emails. This has been rectified as of first thing this morning.
*
I first asked mrthumbs how he knew my name at approximately 5:20 pm ~ his first hint as to where this information actually stemmed from was revealed at 10:04 pm, and even then he was not forthcoming on it.
Now those who think what I did was anything more than attempting to uncover a creepy and potentially threatening situation: Ask yourself, if a person knew a piece of personal information about you, your girlfriend, your child ~ and made it appear that your life was at their fingertips, would it bother you? Ask yourself, if you knew this information and dropped it casually to someone who questioned your source, how many requests for how this information was gained would it take for you to assure them it was nothing other than innocently printed on the full header of their email.
