i just recently had an interesting case with a renewal card. i got my new card in early July as the original card expired at the end of July. Epassporte cut my old card off when the new one was mailed, but my new card couldnt be activated until Aug 1st, even though i phoned them with all the details...
as you said, the CS person never really listens to the problems and documents them for resolution, they just reset the password and move onto the next call. For the most part the system works well, but they do have annoying glitches that need to be addressed.
