Of course they are!
TV and newspapers have folks sitting waiting to book ads and they can't keep up with the massive numbers of advertisers that want space/timeslots. Kinda like sponsors!
In real life they can't give the shit away for less than the half normal rate at the present time, so might as well concentrate on "news value" in the hope of upping the viewing/readership figures.
