I use amember from amember.com . It is a plugin that allows you to accept payments for subs in vbulliten and it automatically upgrades the member from registered user to premium user for you. It works with like 80 different payment processors and cross compatible with any and almost all other board softwares etc.
amember has been used on 30 or so of my sites over the past couple of years and automatically upgraded hundreds of thousands of members for me on it's own so I do not have to sit in front of a pc or hire a monkey to do that work, amember does it all on it's own. When the membership is expired, it will disable their password and email them to renew. Very robotic, very nice.
