I typically don't use filters of any kind but I wouldn't think that a high-quality UV filter would degrade the image to any noticable degree. If I were going to recommend a filter brand however, I'd probably go with something from Tiffen. They make filters for the TV and movie industry and although more expensive than most brands....are made to higher specs. B & H has a nice variety of Tiffen products
