We started out giving dvds away for free on nubiles.net since it opened. I have done it on my program xfusioncash.com back since 2002. Every member gets a free dvd and each month they stay they can have a new one. The main reason was for retention and we were pretty happy when it did increase retention. We never made a lot of money off the dvds but the members liked the free ones, we only charged like 2 dollars for shipping. We did it ourself however we started getting so many membership sales and requests for free dvds we couldnt keep up the demand.
Then a company took over the production for us because we couldnt do it anymore ourselves. As we got more sales to the site we had more dvd requests for free still, but now this new company that did it for us had WAY higher shipping and production costs. So in order for them to keep doing it for us we had to make it buy one get one for free and then we put the link on the tour just recently.
I have no problem paying out on dvds but I have to talk to my programmer and find out how it works. I dont think its possible with ccbill standard revshare, it means we have to drop ccbill as revshare and set up third party billing software to pass the variable along. Thats not an easy change, however we are considering setting something up by the end of the year. I will ask my programmer about doing it with ccbill. I could careless about making money off the dvds, from day 1 it was to do everything possible for the best retention.
You sound pretty pissed off and I can understand your concern however if we did payout on dvds you wouldnt be getting rich overnight, its really not that big of a deal profit wise after the deducting the production, shipping costs and the free ones we still give away.
