Today is International Car Free Day. Vancouver joins the 1,500 other cities celebrating the push for more environmental ways to commute. People will walk, jog, skate, cycle, take transit or ride share to Gastown for a day long street festival with music, performances and displays. Water and Carrall Streets will be closed to vehicle traffic from noon to 8pm. News1130 tested the efficiency factor by having one reporter on the road for the morning commute and one making the same trip by SkyTrain. The reporter taking transit won the race.
