9mm does not have the stopping power of the .45
The .45 was created to be a one shot stop round. The need happened during and after the Spanish-American war when Moros from the Phillipines would rush towards American Servicemen with their .38 revolvers killing them even after they emptied their sidearm into them.
This is the same problem affecting the 9mm. There is renewed interest in our military for the .45 and even the .40. There are quite a few LEO that are switching to the .45 as well.
