If you have dogs, get something with a bit of grain to it to hide any scratches. I bought one of the shiny bicast leather ones which are supposed to be really tough, but their nails do enough damage to make little dull scratch marks where the leather doesn't have that gloss to it. They're not exactly scratching it, but it is noticeable.

Winter or summer A/C means sitting on the couch isn't cozy, so buy a few nice blankets to keep close.

Even with a couple of negatives, I still love leather simply because you can just take a soft cloth & wipe the whole thing down. Spills, dog hair - no problem.
