Yes it is high priority. I prefer being able to take backups, create email aliases, set hotlinking, check stats/visitors, etc myself and not having to bother people about the small things. When we signed up for an account on Isprime they promised us that a panel for their semi-dedicated servers was on the way and would be installed shortly. After that I've asked them at least ten times about it and the replies are quite vague ("sometime in the future perhaps").

Big sites like that have root access to install whatever they want. I don't have root access on my account and thus rather little freedom to decide what runs there and what doesn't. At the same time I have no need for a dedicated machine yet since we're a rather small site. A control panel is a compromise that would work just fine at the moment.

Sure, they have good support and I don't mind that but I don't think it has to be an either/or situation. And if I had to choose I'd go with more freedom to admin the account rather than people standing by to do my work.
