Colors play into it all.
Every hue, every dominate.
I generally apply a triadic color formula to me designs.
But select a dominate color in the triadic and get with the tonal qualities of the dominate color.
I believe it is more about the contrast's more so than the individual colors themselves.
Some peeps think blue and yellow is a good color combo, but...
Blue and Orange work better for example.
I think more of colors as sound and color's are the notes.
D# is very dark, crimson to a dark red while C# tends to be more cooler blue to purple.
Use the contrast between the colors to create a harmony.
You think along the lines of that and I think that depending on the mood and tonal quality you are creating visually is played out much like a song. There is no sense in jumping into a jumple of notes in a song why do such a thing in graphics. It looks horrible and in the case of music sounds like shit.
