it really does work - the night before I was going to move a couple of years ago, my cat was going crazy...he snuck out onto the balcony and jumped three flights to the ground and was prowling around at night. i searched for several hours, couldn't find him...finally found where he was hiding in some shrubs behind a fence where i couldn't get to him. i brought out a can opener on a long extension cord....and within 5 minutes, he was peacefully back in the apartment and i could finish packing.
