I don't smoke marijuana but I don't believe it should be illegal. Tobacco is legal and kills thousands a year. Marijuana is a drug just like alcohol, tabacco, and prescription drugs, but it doesn't have any harmful or lethal side effects like tabacco and alcohol, yet they are legal and marijuana is not.
Can you give some reasons why all of these things are illegal, other than being deemed "immoral"?

by what standards should dictate illegal. Although it is a Joke the US is supposed to have a seperation of church and State. Why is it a joke? The US is a Christian Country, it's legal and moral system are Christian. Therefore we legislated religous doctrine into law. Examples, probably the most memorable was Prohibiton, making alcohol illegal was legal impostition of a religous movement.
Next point currently illegal, how about currently legal but unconstitutional.
1. Seach warrants issued by a secret court, allowing secret searches
2. Administrative search warrants issued by and for the FBI
3. accessing library files of what books you have read
Those are on the federal level, there are more humorous examples of State laws.
Finally read the new amendment to 2257 that has past the house and see if there is chill to free speech.
