Paul Booth is the dogs bollocks. Must fly out one day and get some work done by him.

As for designs...just pick something that means something for you. Don't look on it so much as a tattoo but more as art and pick some artwork that you like and that means something. Then find a tattooist capable of doing it. If they have loads of flash books and no/few pics of actual tattoos then go elsewhere. A talented artist will have a lot of examples of completed work.

The exception is as the other half pointed out - tribal stuff. Even then it's more fun to get a book on real Samoan or Celtic art and get a design from there.
