You can easily get the same HP numbers from a small-block Chevy V8 with a single 4-barrel carb.

Yeah, that will last for 10K miles before it dies. 100K miles was really pushing it on these engines to start with. Once you start boring them and pushing massive amounts of power out of them, they fall apart fast.

I have owned everything from a Chevrolet 302 to a 454, with every bore and stroke combination known to man... In the end it boils down to what chassis you can easily put it into and what you are looking to do with it.

I would take the Mercedes engine any day, as it will function the day it did when you bought it, after 50K or 100K miles.
