The only problem with running Win XP on an old machine like that is RAM. They usually have like 64-128 megs max, which isn't at all sufficient for WinXp if you are impatient.
Processor speed wise though there is not much difference.. I run win xp pro on an old 300 MHZ celeron laptop just fine. (With 256 megs ram)
