The fact that we view such historical facts with utter horror and disdain is...PERHAPS...a reason to be hopeful. It USED TO BE that such mass murders were just a fact of life (just read records of mass starvings and killings before 1900). But perhaps our modern horror and disgust at the barbarism of the recent past is a glimmer of hope that maybe HUMANS ARE MATURING? (Of course, the recent Tutsi massacre in Rwanda in the early 1990s would indicate otherwise)
