I previewed the Jenna Loves Pain DVD and am deeply disappointed at all the website advertising that a customer has to watch before the movie starts. The advertising points the customer to
www.clubjenna.com where they are advertising the DVD for $34 and had an availability date of August 30th. The DVD would not let me skip the advertising before the start of the movie and the movie didn't arrive at my location until approximately September 7th..
I really don't mind the advertising if it is after the movie: but,
when it occurs before the movie and can't be skipped, I feel that it is a blatant effort by Club Jenna to take my customers from me.
If you want sell discounted DVDs by hijacking our customers on your copies that you send to your retailers, you should at least give the retailers some notice... Then, if I don't want the movie, I won't order it for resale.
I think this business practice is something we should address in a public forum as more internet content publishers are soliciting my support for their products.
As a long time (20+ years) retailer, I am very disappointed with Vivid's concern for my business' interest, and, truthfully, somewhat suprised.
What do other internet retailers and affiliates think about this practice?
