To dynastones and ross.... Please understand that a dog DOES NOT UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT OF HITTING OR SMACKING. I'm not trying to pick a fight. When the dog reacts to hitting by cowering down to you, all you aredoing is showing the dog that will hurt it sometimes. But the dog doesnt know why you hurt it. I agree that lightly smacking a dog doesnt constitute abuse. Just like there is a difference in spanking your child, and beating your child. What i am saying is that you gotta know how to punish the dog in a way that it understands.... Do this, and you will have an amazingly obedient dog in no time.... trust me. please, for the dogs sake.
