Man, the US has made some significant strides in the last 5 or so years, but they have a long way to go. FIFA rankings have been notoriously unreliable. There are teams in Europe that won't even qualify for the world cup that are better than the US. It'll be at least another 15 years before the US really starts to make a name for itself in football, and it'll be a very very long time indeed before they bring home any trophies.
