Well, I must admit I was having similar situation like this (well, not killing people)... I don't know if this is too good to post here, but, let's share that with you.
At the funeral of my best friend (a girl) that has been hit by the train, which i sit next to in school, I was the only one that was not crying... I felt very bad, though, but I was calm... Then I have seen a girl I saw the day before, and in which I felt in love at the first sight (the day before), and at that moment I stop thinking about the whole ceremony - I was trying to find her in the crowd!
Do not look at me as a psycho - it was only defense mechanism... After that I was assured that people react very weird in different situations...
