Well, if you have a real backup process this would be easily handled by your off-site copy. Too many times people think that just because they backup data to a CD that they are backing up against hardware failure when in reality they should be backing up to protect themselves against any kind of physical catastrophe. I feel bad for you because it's a painful way for you to learn the lesson that off-site backups are a necessity. Everyone using a computer for business should have a disaster recovery plan and follow it.

Just think of all of the thousands of businesses that have been affected by Katrina... I'd be willing to bet that 98 percent of them didn't have a disaster recovery plan or backups.

I wish I was there to make a shitload of money recovering people's data for them.
