Oh really?

Perhaps you should do some research on the Armalite AR-15 series. The standard issue C-7 is just a variant on the AR-15. It's a design that's been around for close to 50 years.

And keep in mind that these helicopters have so many things replaced on them so often that you're basically dealing with a full-unit replacement after a while, with the possible exception of the chassis.

Now don't get me wrong... there are better models out there and we would do well in obtaining them. What bugs me is this universal condemnation of what could perfectly viable aircraft (with appropriate funding and maintenance) that is still in successful and high-profile usage around the world based on little more than political sniping and partisan sound-bytes.
