"Reality Check # 2
- Personal Responsibility
- Lets start here where the blame should start at the bottom not the top.
- Evacuation orders were given for Residents to leave New Orleans and the Gulf Coast area.
Hundreds of thousands did. Some could leave but chose not to and some could not leave for medical reasons and others did not leave due to lack of funds or lack of transportation.
If you stayed, than you have a personal responsibility to prepare. For a Category 3 hurricane at least 3 days of Food, water, diapers, etc.
For a Category 5 at least 5 days of the same. Kids learn in school to have a plan in case of a house fire; Hurricane areas teach having a disaster plan and hurricane plan for the family.
Why, so you have enough food, water , diapers etc. until electricity and water are restored or until you can reach a Shelter or evacuation center.
If you went to the Superdome were they not required to bring a 3 day supply of water with them? did they not tell them they would not supply food? Bring it with you.
If you stayed in your Home or apartment should you not have those supplies already moved to your attic?
Then How in the world can I see, Healthy walking and talking people on the news saying I haven't had food nor water in 5 days or as some news casters say "Days and Days"(extra drama not news).
Did not Katrina Hit Monday? Was not the city of New Orleans Spared for a day? Did not the levees start to break on Tuesday? Should not everyone just be running out of their 3-5 day supply on Thursday or Friday?"
