Fortunately for such sponsors, self-delusion is alive and well: webmasters don't want to admit to their own greed and short-sightedness. But once a sponsor has signalled contempt for its affiliates loud and clear, run a mile. Chances are it will be your turn one day and even if you think the risk is small, why take it? There are more good sponsors than bad ones and helping bad sponsors stay in business damages us all in the end.
