Imagine if it was members of your family who did not have the resourses to evacuate. I assume your message would be quite different.
If you don't own a car and there are not buses/other free/affordable transporation already in line to evacuate you, tell me how you are going to evacuate from an approaching (predicatable) catastrophic storm?

Hmm...a loaf of bread and a couple of cans of potted meat...four or five bottles of water...costs how much.
People were told in advance to bring food and water when they entered the shelters.

Honestly, we should not even have to count on the numerous non-government disaster relief organizations and public suplimentary funding, yet as we find time and time again, they do a better job at getting relief where it is most needed.
Keep waving your pom-poms and cheering on the great LATE relief effort. Amongst the people most effected though, your cheers are falling upon deaf ears.
As I said before, hopefully you and yours will never be in such a predicament as to have to experience such a disaster, and then count on your government to come to your aid.
