I'd bet my life savings that in my lifetime, at most, the US will win one World Cup. But probably not even that. There just isn't the skill there. And this is one sport you can't just throw money at.
I like the way you say "we've taken baseball, basketball..." they've always been US sports anyway. No one else really cares about them.
And Rugby's been played for decades (if not longer). (and yes -- they don't wear lame-ass padding)
Cricket's been played for over a hundred years, and it's India's (that's a BILLION people) national sport
