Because thats a dumb idea. Why? Learn simple economics.
If you cap gas prices, at some point gas will become to expensive to produce to sell in a certain area. Then what happens, the gas companies stop selling in that area. Sorry, but if it costs 2 dollars to make and ship gas to somewhere, and you cap it at 1.50, well no one will sell it there.
Gas prices SHOULD keep going higher. I know it sucks, but when gas prices get high it allows other industries to create alternative fuels/technologies. Basic supply and demand.
