One person was able to get to the grocery aisle of walmart and steal some canned food...He has a couple of cans of spam that he can spare...
Another person comes along and offers a Rolex or a pair of shoes in exchange for the can of spam...
And VOILA..there's your explanation of the barter system.
And if people are stupid enough to STEAL a television in the middle of a hurricane, don't you think people are stupid enough to trade something for it?
