Well I'm not a politician and I doubt that anyone else on GFY is either. So memorizing names of people I don't talk to or about and probably never will talk to or deal with in any way is just superflous information that doesn't stand to benefit me in any way. Knowing that wouldn't make me an intellectual, it would make me a trivia buff, much like expecting someone in Canada to know the names of any US politicians.

If there was some type of turmoil in Canada you can bet their PM's name would be all over the news and common knowledge in the US. However as they seem to be taking care of their own country quite well there's little reason to know about their political scene.
