The genie is out of the bottle, but they need to stem the production, and then try to handle the people on the decline (no ice - or decreased supply). Unfortunately, if they precursors can be bought, the drug can be produced anywhere. Weed has a grow cycle, there are no poppy fields domestically, and no coca is grown here. Meth is produced and consumed here, entirely different battle.
Point taken on the guns, everyone I ever knew of that was on meth, had a gun, and feared no one. I met a guy who used to open his front door, and blow random shots into the surrounding woods, "Just incase they are watching". He's now clean, but his stories were intense.... the life of a tweaker.
