When I was in Navy bootcamp, there were obviously a small percentage of black people there...But I swear that 97% of all of the people who were in "remedial" swimming, a class that you had to pass before you could finish, were black. I was shocked. The biggest part was that black folks aren't going to jump off of that high ass tower into the pool. They had that to simulate having to jump off the edge of the ship.

I passed but I was one of the few black people who passed the swim test on the first try...Even then I was terrified.
