Where does the .CD domain name come from?

The .CD domain is an Internet country code domain name, just like .JP (for Japan), .MX (for Mexico) or .CA (for Canada). CD, a code according to ISO 3166-1 of the International Standards Agency has been assigned by IANA in 1997 as ccTLD (Top Level Domain) .CD (dot CD). Key-Systems GmbH, Friedrichsthal and Berlin, has been nominated by the Sponsoring Organization of .CD in February 2001 as Administrative and Technical Contact (Registry) of .CD. dotzCD is a registrar agent for .CD domains worldwide.

Looks like it's a German country code perhaps?
