He suspended habius corpus completely,[no more need for evidence in order to jail people], put congressmen into jail for pro-confederate speechs, was called a dictator and a criminal by most media, had big problems with the economy, and had draft riots in large cities where hundreds died at the hands of police for simply protesting being drafted into a war that they did not believe in.)
