In relation to the entire U.S. population then yes, the south was relatively small in comparison. So what? Look up how many thousand people died in your war that was an attempt to resolve the issue. It didn't reslove it of course though. It officially served to abolish slavery, but it did nothing to fix the problem of what to do with the 3 million+ slaves that you had dragged over from Africa. A lot of white folks down there said "<i>HELL's FIRE! War or no war, no nigga's gonna live on MY street! Nobody's gonna tell ME thet a nigga is equal tuh ME!</i>"
And that pea-brained mentality lives on in parts of the U.S. to this day.
