Cuz it's not that easy really ... I have a pretty souped up computer, but I want an Xbox that is "dedicated" for gaming, meaning I can be up and running a game fast and have no bugs in a nice little, portable package. I also have a media center, etc all ready to go in this box. I could spend a lot more on a dedicated gaming computer, but it won't be as easy to use and bug free, etc as an xbox/xbox 360. Also, not all xbox games are also released on PC. $400 wouldn't go far in souping up a computer nowadays, that would just cover a great graphics card or a good processor.
