Every year I go to Burning Man. (This is my 8th time.) And usually there are enough interested GFYers for me to post about the journey and explain a little about it. This year is especially exciting because I get to share it with tASSy.
This thread will serve as a bookmarkable place for tASSy and I to post pics and stuff about our preparations, etc.
So consider this your warning of insanity to come. Mwahahahaha!!!
1)?What is Burning Man??
It is an annual festival in the desert outside of Reno, Nevada that focusses on "Radical Self Expression." People have compared it to Woodstock, a humongous rave, Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, and a Convention for Artists.
It is like none of those, and all of those. It?s a place where you can do anything you want and not be judged. Any creative impulse is revered. And people create some of the most amazing art the world has ever seen. At the end of the week most of it is burned.
The event is commerce-free. Nothing is bought or sold. Nothing is bartered. ONLY GIFTING.
And the most important part: the event is
PARTICIPANTS ONLY. NO SPECTATORS. If you go to Burning Man, you are expected to do your part to make the event better. Whatever your gifts are (cooking, DJing, singing, massage, etc.) you are expected to share with the community. (as well as help clean up, etc.)
