There comes a point after countless flyers, television shows, fresh-faced polyester-clad youths on your doorstep at 8am on saturday mornings, newscasts about the fatwa-du-jour proclaiming that all jews, faggots, war protesters, abortionists, liberals, drug addicts, and non-white poor people are going straight to hell where eventually you just get sick of it. I don't know how many different ways one can say "Jesus doesn't want me for a fucking sunbeam" before they'll finally leave you alone. I have yet to personally discover that magical number, though I remain ever hopeful.
I wish some of these hyper-zealous 'fishers of men' would take a little more time doing things that matter and a little less time proselytizing. "By their works, shall ye know them"... but what works will they wrought if their only purpose on the planet is, apparently, the viral spread of a belief system that many people would just as soon do without? Could they lay claim to anything other than "I recruited"?
There's truth in saying that some people are on shaky ground and feel personally threatened by public declarations of faith. There are still others who are fed up of having to endure yet another metaphysical sales pitch in the guise of someone 'testifying'. If you really want to demonstrate the power of faith and strength of your convictions, lead by example and help make the world a better place in a substantial fashion.
