newsflash for David :

Some Washington insiders believe that, in the wake of the FCC's recent hiring of an anti-pornography activist and former lobbyist for groups that push for more Christian guidelines in public policy, the commission may be preparing to act on indecency complaints against broadcast and cable, and to herald a renewed focus against broadcast indecency, Mediaweek reports.

Penny Nance, until recently a board member for Concerned Women for America - a group which describes its mission as helping to "bring Biblical principles into all levels of public policy" - is now a special advisor in the FCC's Office of Strategic Planning and Policy Analysis, according to aides to FCC Chairman Kevin Martin.

Nance has called for stricter enforcement of indecency laws and pointed to huge problems with indecency on basic cable. Martin is on record as being a supporter of strict enforcement of indecency laws, though the FCC has proposed no indecency fines since he took the chair five months ago.

The head of FCC is a Bush Apointee.
