I dont think they are ignorant at all - this whole industry is based on getting away with as much as possible: first it was rebilling the customer to death, hiding the cancellation form, or in WORST case scenarios charging the shit out of their cards ... just one example of something webmasters have had to adapt to - now quality members areas must be made if you want the surfer to rebill, whereas before rebilling was unregulated ... it took visa going apeshit for the billing companies to do something about it ... but i lament ...

the point is, if none of the owners of the content do anything, why shouldnt these people sell the members areas on ML and make money???

i think they are smart, taking advantage of a nice opportunity, and i think the owners of the content who do nothing about it are ignorant.
