just because it boosts energy amounts by 30% does not mean that costs an extra $60 - $100. this is in regards to the average home.

they do bump up energy consumption by a signifigant amount. it is about 30% for average use.

lcd on the other hand are supersavers in regard to energy consumption. they use very little.
