I don't think post count matter per say, although a large post count lends to status. But there are plenty of people on GFY with large post counts that aren't the most popular guys on the block.
It someone has a meaningful response to a thread on say something of substance or clever, they'll get noticed or remembered. It's all about branding and remembering a program or product.
There are others that go the other direction and spew a bunch of hate and cause problems, which will work with a portion of people who like the tabloid form of entertainment. But most substantial affilliates know who they like and who to promote.
But advertising and keeping your companies brand in the public eye is important, hence the signatures. And it really takes a tool to get someone to say they'll never promote a program because of an answer.
