You have not been following what's happening in the world. I think they are doing pretty good for themself

In a "regular" war, US is superior. No doubt about that.

Just look at Iraq. Iraq is not a "regular" war. You don't have an enemy force dug down in the desert somewhere that you can blow up with a missile shot from 100 miles away.
There you have suicide bombers, snipers and rebels hiding in houses. They are willing to fight eye to eye and die for their cause. Is the US army willing to fight on those terms?
